Höchstadt an der Aisch (officially: Höchstadt a.d.Aisch) is a town in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt in Central Franconia.

The former district town is located on the edge of the Steigerwald between the cities of Erlangen and Bamberg. Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise in the north): Hirschaid, Hallerndorf, Adelsdorf, Gremsdorf, Heßdorf, Weisendorf, Uehlfeld, Lonnerstadt, Mühlhausen, Pommersfelden, Frensdorf.

Until the district reform in 1972, vehicles that were registered in the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch had the HÖS mark. Afterwards, the ERH symbol was awarded to vehicles for the Erlangen-Höchstadt district. Since February 2, 2015, the HOES license plate has also been issued again.

The federal road 470 leads through Höchstadt / Aisch; there is also a connection to the A3 motorway with the Hochstadt-Ost and Höchstadt-Nord junctions.
The federal highway 505 begins in Höchstadt. It leads from the Pommersfelden junction of the A 3 to Bamberg and is an important detour route between the A 73 (Nuremberg-Suhl) and the A 3 (Würzburg-Nuremberg).
Until 1984, Höchstadt was connected to the rail network of the Deutsche Bundesbahn via the Forchheim – Höchstadt line.
